Malaysia’s Alia Bastamam presents striking collection featuring Rafflesia jewelry
October 23, 2013
On
October 23, the Youth Art Palace was filled with buzz as it hosted a
runway show by Malaysian designer Alia Bastamam that featured Rafflesia
jewelry, another Malaysian luxury brand.
The models clad in crystal white floor-length dresses designed by
Malaysian fashion designer Alia Bastamam complemented by Rafflesia
jewelry looked like nymphs. Flowing fabrics and silk designs accentuated
the models’ svelteness. Another highlight of the show was seen in the
jewelry, with the glittering diamonds and pearls putting a spell on the
audience. The outfits and accessories made for a perfect blend as if
sending a message “we are created for true ladies and we are able to
conquer hearts and be a feast for the eyes”.
Among those attending the show was big-name footwear designer Jimmy
Choo, who closely collaborates with Rafflesia and supports Bastamam’s
collections.
The design esthetic of Malaysian fashion designer Alia Bastamam
brings a cool and up-to-date culture into the glamorous realm of
fashion. The Rafflesia Design School (KL) graduate is inspired by
unequivocal beauty at first sight and what looks best on a woman. She
carefully reflects the classic vintage works of Valentino Garavani and
Roy Halston, the edged contemporary tones of Haider Ackermann
as well as the playful nonchalance of Stella McCartney and Alber
Elbaz.
Bastamam keeps a keen eye on fashion trends to keep inspired by new
movements. Alia has made it essential that her designs are enduring and
never out of style, without overtly ornate trimmings. In Tashkent, Alia
Bastaman will present a collection complemented by jewelry by Rafflesia,
another Malaysian brand.
