Tashkent International Film Forum ‘Golden Guepard’ is in its midway as 3 days of the Forum have already rolled by and another 3 days remain. The agenda of the third day on October 21 included press conferences, screening of 2 in-competition features, and 5 animated and 5 short films. Four workshops were led by Hans Schlegel, Sergei Selianov, Yukihiro Matsumoto and Iskander Aminov. Screening of out-of-competition films, Program of short films “Beginning”, Panorama of Contemporary Uzbek Cinema and National Festival of Mass films “On a Par with the Audience”.
Hans Schlegel’s ‘Models and Functions of Short Films’ continued his workshops at The Youth Art Palace, the main venue for the educational part of the Film Forum. The workshop by Sergei Selianov, a famous producer of over 40 feature and documentary films, honored at Russian and international film festivals, and a winner of many cinematographic awards. He shared the story of his creative life, described the process of filmmaking and answered a lot of other questions.

Japanese producer Yukihiro Matsumoto taught a workshop ‘On Modern Trends in the Development of Japanese Film Industry’. He explained the link between development of Japanese cinema and literature, characterized animated films and many others. Iskander Aminov, the CEO of Delovaia Rus company, that deals with complex equipment for public nutrition in Russia, told the audience everything about popcorn and bars in cinema during his workshop at The State Institute of Culture and Arts.
Five films in-competition animated and five short films from Czech Republic, Spain, Iran, Brazil, Russia, France, Germany and Uzbekistan were shown at Alisher Navoi Palace of Cinema. Animated films included ‘Where Do the Butterflies Grow?’ (Czech Republic, 2012) directed by Vladka Macurova, 6 min. , ‘Origami’ (Spain, 2013) directed by David Pavón, 6 min. 52 sec., ‘Travelling’ (Iran, 2012) directed by Mashaalah Mohammadi, 5 min. 35 sec., ‘Linear’ (Brazil, 2012) directed by Amir Admoni, 6 min.,’Friends’ (Russia, 2012) directed by Roman Sokolov, 6 min. Amongst short films were ‘Steam’ (Turkey, 2012) directed by Burak Koçak, 27 min, ‘House №16’ (Uzbekistan, 2013) directed by Aziz Akhmedjanov, 26 min, ‘Come What May’ (France, 2012) directed by Maxime Meyers and Mathieu Bergeron, 7 min, ‘The Swing of the Coffin Maker’ (Germany, 2012) directed by Elmar Imanov, 29 min, ‘Ballerina’ (Uzbekistan, 2013) directed by Khasan Salikhov and Khusan Salikhov, 12 min.
Besides in-competition film screening, the third day of the Forum presented a huge variety of out-of-competition feature and documentary films such as 2 motion pictures as a part of the Program of Documentary Films ‘Vectors of Reality’ – ‘Within the Eye of the Storm’ (Israel, 2012) and ‘Seeking for a Beam’ (Uzbekistan, 2013) , 2 films from out-of-competition program of French films – ‘Queen to Play’ and ‘Summer Hours’ , ‘Goat Story with Cheese’, a film of Program of Czech films ‘Visiting a Fairytale’ and the film ‘English Vinglish’ from the program of Indian films. Meeting with Emilia Haviarova, a Czech dramatist, at the City Makon Entertainment Centre, was also a part of ‘Visiting a Fairytale’.

On the third day of the Film Forum two in-competition features – ‘Never Mind’ (Switzerland, 2013) and ‘Dust on Our Hearts’ (Germany, 2012), - were screened at City Makon and Premier Hall Cinema. ‘Never Mind’ is a debut work by Swiss director Jeshua Dreyfus, who also produced the film. The film was shot in 2013. Another in-competition feature screened on the third day of the Film Forum at night at Premier Hall Cinema was ‘Dust on Our Hearts’ by a German director.
